Viruses or Locusts ?

Viruses or locusts?
It is a muddy move, from the Devil
To the deep,destructive sea.
Symptoms of disease and famine,
Detour from the same continent
Or from other odd outsources,
To dethrone each one's routine
To an unrest of an awful kind.
Lock down,lock up and Locusts!
A lousy cobweb of panic,to unwind.
Dying crops and victims of contagion
Crash hopes into manifold pieces.
Unseen viruses and awkward pests,
Mock at mankind's mammoth power
To exploit in excess,the environment.
Silicon valleys cherishing unicorn dreams
See an avalanche of their stocked piles.
Sudden aggression of a virus or pest,
Seals all steps to take stock of the situation.
What drugs to eat and what ways to treat?
We harvest the present paranoia,from
A hideous heap of our past barbarities.
We are both the virus and the pest.
As we look deep within, our minds' mirror
Reflects surreptitious monsters locked down,
For our myriad mind games of manipulation.
The ongoing loss of lives and crops is the outcome
Of our simian strokes of stirring the hornet's nest.

P. Chandrasekaran.
