Life is proud of its lofty lot,
When death misses his slot.
When the poisoned food stayed uneaten
By a stuffed stomach,not hungry,
When a virulent virus knocked at the doors
While the inmates were out on a holiday,
When an accident wrecked a bus
On which someone did not travel,
When a bunch of apartments collapsed
After the occupants were pulled out,
When a flight fiercely emitted fire
Even before the first person boarded it,
When a bomb set at a crowded spot
Fizzled out at the fall of a thunderstorm,
When a cobra with its horrid hood
Was trampled by some unseen boots,
When many such moments miffed death,
Death cut a sorry figure in front of life.
As life's'leveller'grimly rued his levity,
Life gave a broad smile,at its longevity.
