For some Gandhi belongs to the past.
For many he is a legend to last.
We have been shuffling the currency.
With his portrait on it, as our legacy.
Gandhi's experiments with truth
Inspire not men boosting their sleuth.
His simple smile is a tale of history,
Frowned upon by men of bigotry.
India is ever inclusive of the Mahatma
While Bharat is infused with a lot of dogma.
Sailing with Gandhi is the ship of harmony.
Failing to own him, is the anchor of irony.
October second is not just another day
To pass over from memory without its say.
